SNMP High Scale Data Collection Agent
Why do we need SNMP data collection?
Data collection on objects in your system can be used for multiple reasons:
- Internal status monitoring
- Trends analysis and capacity planning
- Counter and state based event generation
For devices that do not allow internal agents and that respond to SNMP (usually
networking devices), high frequency SNMP data collection is the only method available.
The SNMP data collection agent is created for large scale operations. It can collect information from thousands of
nodes simultaneously, while collecting tens of thousands of OIDs in cycles of close to a minute.
The product enables defining event triggers based on the data collected. The event triggers launch user defined
commands, for example an SNMP trap, or any other command.
The agent is created to perform this operation very quickly, using asynchronous operations and complex algorithms. The agent
does not wait for a response from a given node to monitor other nodes.
It contains many flow control parameters that enable it to work in all kinds of networks, with equipment that supports
the SNMP protocol in different ways.
On the node level, the agent supports:
- Monitoring frequency
- Monitoring hours
- Timeout if no reply
- Retry count
- The number of SNMP queries sent simultaneously to a given node
- The number of SNMP OIDs combined in a single request
